The Safer Homes Scheme we deliver in conjunction with Rochdale Council commenced in May 2024 and provide a home security assessment and upgrade service for people who have experiencing domestic abuse. Domestic Abuse Survivors are referred to us by Rochdale Council’s Homelessness Prevention Team.

Our Administration Team log all referrals and go back to referrers with any relevant clarifications. Once all details are logged on our system, all referred Clients are contacted within 24 hours and offered an appointment at the earliest opportunity. Home Security visits are always completed within 5 days unless the referred Client requires a later date.

All personnel who have contact with Clients (Administrators and Security Engineers) are DBS checked and have undergone a range of internal and external sessions. Everyone has undertaken trauma training and domestic abuse awareness training.

Our personnel delivering the service are from the Greater Manchester/North-West area.

As is the case with our own favoured service delivery model, assessments and fittings are carried out on the same single visit. This ensures that vulnerable Clients have a safer home environment in the shortest possible timeframe allowing them to feel safer at home from day one.

Security products combinations are chosen to ensure specifically to address each individual Client’s security needs, present home security level and property layout.

As on all target hardening/sanctuary contracts the emphasis is on providing security interventions that are tailored to each Client.

Quarterly Reports detailing all aspects of service delivery are forwarded and then form the basis of Contract Review between Secure Horizon and Rochdale contract management personnel.

Security Upgrades available on this scheme include:

  • Door Locks
  • Window Locks
  • Padlocks (Gates, Outhouses)
  • Recording Devices (Video doorbells, cameras)
  • Security Lighting
  • Window Alarms
