We commenced the Suffolk County Council Sanctuary Scheme in April 2023. Referrals come into the service via secure means from Leeway which is an independent charity providing support to adults, young people and children who are experiencing domestic abuse in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Referred Clients are contacted by our Administrators within 24 hours and offered an appointment slot within a 5-day timeframe.

We know we are working with vulnerable people and therefore all our personnel who come into contact either on the phone or in-person are fully trained and prepared which includes our internal training programmes and externally provided modules which include Domestic Abuse Awareness, Safeguarding and Trauma training modules.

As on all our contracts, Clients are given the name of our Engineer in advance and they have the option of having a friend, family member or support professional with them during the visit.

When visiting the Client’s home our Engineer will initiate a conversation with them regarding their security concerns, giving them the opportunity to mention anything relevant to the assessment. We look to establish risk scenarios and perpetrator behaviour patterns. This helps us to focus security upgrades appropriately.

We are looking to provide bespoke security interventions for each Client, their home and their security concerns so our Engineers will initiate discussions with referred Clients and ask about their security concerns.

Assessments and fittings all proceed on the same day giving the referred client added sense of security in the shortest possible timeframe.

As on all these schemes, we give the referred Client the opportunity to fill in a customer satisfaction questionnaire. They can also add comments if they choose to do so. These come straight through to our Administration and Management Teams via our CRM system.

The positive client feedback that we get allows us to put together case studies which are included in quarterly reports.

These reports and case studies then form the basis of regular Contract Progress Meetings between Secure Horizon management personnel and SCC Commissioners.

Security Upgrades available on this scheme include:

  • Door Locks
  • Window Locks
  • Padlocks (Gates, Outhouses)
  • Recording Devices (Video doorbells, cameras)
  • Security Lighting
  • Window Alarms
