City of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council

We are contracted with Wakefield Council to provide a two-fold service covering both minor adaptations and handyperson works. After being successful in an open procurement process, we took over this service from the previous provider, and we are now in the first of two extensions to the original term.

We work with vulnerable members of the community throughout the district of Wakefield ensuring that they are able to remain safe in their homes. Works, fittings and services carried out include:

Internal grab rails
External grab rails
Banister rails
Drop down toilet seats
Floor to ceiling poles
Fitting external key safes
External steps with railing
Shelf fitting
Lock Fitting
Carpentry
Minor plumbing works
Moving furniture

Like the Gloucestershire contract, this scheme also has an element whereby we commit to 24-hour turnaround timeframes to facilitate prompt hospital discharges.

Our service delivery team play an important role in freeing up hospital bed space and therefore easing pressure and A&E and ambulance service. Often these 24-hour requests are for the fitting of key safes so that Carers can access the Client’s home to carry out their hospital discharge support plan.

We accept referrals from an array of professionals including Occupational Therapists. Wakefield residents are eligible to self-refer under the terms of contract providing they satisfy criteria set by the Authority/Commissioners. We triage these calls to ensure eligibility and priority levels.

Full ‘presentation’ reports are sent quarterly to Commissioners which include customer feedback gathered from on-site surveys and post-visit spot checks, case studies and a full breakdown of all works carried out.

Meetings are also held quarterly timed to take place shortly after receipt of report. Normally there are two participants from both Wakefield Council and Secure Horizon.

Kent County Council

Our South-East Team deliver the SAFER Scheme on behalf of KCC. Working closely with stakeholders and a well organised referral pathway, we provide security assessments and upgrades in the homes of Domestic Abuse Survivors across Kent. We are also pioneering the new Cyber Sanctuary scheme protecting those targeted by cyber stalking and online abuse.

Gloucestershire County Council

Our Gloucester-based Team provides an array of minor adaptations in the homes of older residents or people with disabilities. Works include fitting grabrails, external handrails, dropdown rails, chair raisers and building additional concrete steps for front and rear door access. Our team are Level 3 Trained Assessors and work in conjunction with Occupational Therapists. Our rapid turnaround for Hospital Discharge cases eases pressure on bed space and therefore ambulance services.

Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council

Handyvan Scheme - Our Team carries out a wide range of jobs in the homes of older residents or people with disabilities. Typical jobs include fitting grabrails, moving furniture, clearing hazards and anything which would necessitate climbing a step ladder. We also offer Service Users onward referral options to multiple other support agencies.
