Birmingham City Council

As with all Sanctuary/Target Hardening schemes, our work on behalf of Birmingham City Council (BCC) is centred around the referred Domestic Abuse Survivors.

On this particular scheme we work in conjunction with West Midlands Police Designing Out Crime Team. WMP Designing Out Crime Officers carry out an initial assessment of the referred Client’s home and pass security upgrade recommendations onto us.

Once we receive a referral with WMP DOCO recommendations, we contact the referred Client within 24-hours and book them in for a home visit. Our Security Engineers are all DBS vetted and have been through our comprehensive training programmes. Furthermore, all are fully committed to supporting vulnerable people and working with them to achieve the best possible security outcomes within the parameters of the scheme.

Our Security Engineers will fit security upgrades as recommended by WMP DOCOs products. All fittings are carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety best practice. Our Engineers also measure up for bespoke products such as replacement doors and windows.

Whilst we are at the property, we carry out a further security assessment and discuss security concerns with the referred Client. This can lead to further security products being fitted to compliment the DOCO recommendations.

By carrying out multiple security upgrades on day one, we ensure that Clients have positive security outcomes right from the initial visit. We then order all bespoke or made-to-measure security products and once these products are manufactured and delivered to our Birmingham premises, we book the Client back in for a second visit.

Full and itemised quarterly reports are forwarded to BCC. These will show what products have been fitted on each case and will update BCC Commissioners on client feedback, comments, any issues, safeguarding escalations etc.

These reports then form the basis of regular Contract Progress Meetings between Secure Horizon management personnel and BCC Commissioners.

Kent County Council

Our South-East Team deliver the SAFER Scheme on behalf of KCC. Working closely with stakeholders and a well organised referral pathway, we provide security assessments and upgrades in the homes of Domestic Abuse Survivors across Kent. We are also pioneering the new Cyber Sanctuary scheme protecting those targeted by cyber stalking and online abuse.

Gloucestershire County Council

Our Gloucester-based Team provides an array of minor adaptations in the homes of older residents or people with disabilities. Works include fitting grabrails, external handrails, dropdown rails, chair raisers and building additional concrete steps for front and rear door access. Our team are Level 3 Trained Assessors and work in conjunction with Occupational Therapists. Our rapid turnaround for Hospital Discharge cases eases pressure on bed space and therefore ambulance services.

Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council

Handyvan Scheme - Our Team carries out a wide range of jobs in the homes of older residents or people with disabilities. Typical jobs include fitting grabrails, moving furniture, clearing hazards and anything which would necessitate climbing a step ladder. We also offer Service Users onward referral options to multiple other support agencies.
